DisK Cleanup tool helps you free up space on your hard disc to improve the performance of your computer.  It identifies files that you can safely delete, and then enables you to choose whether you want to delete some or all of the identified files.

Use Disk Cleanup to:

  • Remove temporary Internet files.

  • Remove downloaded program files (such as Microsoft ActiveX controls and Java applets).

  • Empty the Recycle Bin.

  • Remove Windows temporary files such as error reports.

  • Remove optional Windows components that you don't use.

  • Remove installed programs that you no longer use.

  • Remove unused restore points and shadow copies from System Restore.

We start the "Disk Cleanup" by right clicking on My Computer and select "Properties"

We select the "General" tab and click "Disk Cleanup" as below

While we have the properties open have a quick check to see if someone accidently clicked the "Compress drive.." tag as below

Drive compression can result in slower performance and may create problems with some applications when file access is critical, or where frequent read/write activity is necessary.

After you click OK to Disc CleanUp your system will start calculating which files can be deleted and how much  space will be recovered.

YOU DECIDE which files get deleted the recomnded files will have a check mark.

When you "DECIDE" click OK..
Your system will respond as below click OK..

That's it! Easy...
